photoshoot
2024 dmitry slovokhotov

read on paper magazine

The most difficult part of the project proved to be set design, says Slovohotov, due to tight schedules and commercial projects. In the end, the problem was solved thanks to the Space studio in Belgrade who invited the team to shoot at their warehouse, clad with designer furniture and props.

"During the shoot, I was just saying to Oleg how genius it was to find this location where everything came together — the studio, the lighting, the furniture”, admits Slovohotov.

the interview
with sasha chaika 2024 alina muzychenko, arseniy koftun

read on project × media

alina muzychenko: The idea to interview Sasha came from Arseniy Koftun. Since I had worked with him a lot at Kultrab as a founder and creative producer and had produced several of his shoots, he was comfortable with me joining. Arseniy and I wrote the questions, and Sasha answered them.

arseniy koftun: Alina and I see great talent in Sasha. It was especially interesting to talk with someone with experience in indie magazines. My main idea was to get insights that could guide young creatives in making the right career moves.

the interview with arseniy jabiev 2024 dima slovokhotov, egor fedosov

read on project × media

dima slovokhotov: With Arseny, it’s simple: interviews with him are rare, and he’s had many high-profile shoots recently. We wanted to fill the gap and talk about his projects.

egor fedosov: We realized it was strange that such a renowned photographer had almost no interviews, and the few that existed were pretty outdated. So, we decided to ask him some questions. Plus, he has always been vocal about his political stance, even when it clashed with other opinion leaders—like his conflict with Abdullah, another major Russian photographer who gave in-depth interviews about the war. All of this seemed worth exploring.

dima slovokhotov: With Katya, everything came together naturally—we were looking for interesting voices, and Sergey and Valya suggested her for the piece. After all, she was the one who originally inspired the creation of the platform.

sophie lizanets: The idea for an interview with Kertin came from Seryozha. He saw in Kertin's stories that he was in Morocco. I reached out to him and went to Marrakech to conduct the interview.

the material about labour unions 2024 sophie lizanets

read on project × media

sophie lizanets: The text about unions wasn’t my idea. We were brainstorming during one of our syncs, and it just came up. I liked the topic and decided to take it on.

grassroots is a horizontal union of professionals across creative lines of work, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are piloting a new form of interaction threading through ideation to creation. The foundation for this new model is a self-organizing system. At its core lies a system encouraging members to self-organize; brainstorm ideas, determine personal workflows and potentially branch off into other decentralized groups.

Members can propose an idea, individually or as a group, distribute the available budget, execute projects, and steer the foundation’s trajectory together.

We believe diversifying perspectives is a crucial principle for any creative endeavour. We advocate for the participation of creatives with diverging perspectives and practices, as long as they share the common values of our initiative.

Our budget is sustained from a percentage of project ×’s commercial revenue, while the allocation of said budget is determined by our community. In the future we plan to include features enabling personal funding. All members hold equal weight in decision-making, independently of their expertise or experience.

There are three guiding roles which lead the discussion and selection of ideas. These are the Chief Producer, Treasurer and Visionary Leader. These positions are elected by the community and rotated every three months. Weekly meetings are held to brainstorm and make decisions collaboratively.

Our non-negotiable is safety. We will not approve projects which risk our members safety or well-being of any kind. This principle is unchanging.
